Big Cat virtual conservation awareness weekend at Henry Vilas Zoo

RCP was very excited to take part in Henry Vilas Zoo’s amazing “Catapalooza” Conservation Awareness event for big cats in the wild. This annual event would normally take place around this time but, with zoos closed, this year Catapalooza moved online to raise awareness of the plight of African lions and Amur tigers. Catch up here on the exciting schedule of talks, fun activities and games you can play at home: https://www.henryvilaszoo.gov/catapalooza/.

Our senior researchers, BenJee and Ana, delivered some fascinating insights into working in the field in the Q&A session – join them to learn first-hand what it is like to live alongside lions in Ruaha: https://web.facebook.com/HenryVilasZoo/videos/2606691969619505/. This was followed by a virtual story time reading of our beautifully illustrated childrens’ book, “Darem the Lion Defender”, which you can enjoy here: https://web.facebook.com/HenryVilasZoo/videos/661151284468768/.

It is amazing to see what great support for conservation is taking place, even in shutdown.

Thank you Henry Vilas Zoo!
